The two questions I get asked the most about harp lessons are
1)Is the harp hard to learn?
AND
2)I am an adult. Is it too late for me to learn?
My answers are
1)It takes some practice and the guidance of a good teacher, but you can be creating beautiful sounds and even simple tunes very early on. The harp is a "gentle" learning instrument in that it sounds good and is easy on the ears from the very first day.
2)No it's not too late! I teach all ages from around 5 upwards. So far, my oldest student was 86 years old! I have experience teaching seniors and am able to adjust technique to work around physical limitations such as arthritis. I also have experience working with special needs, both as a teacher and a mama.

My educational background
A natural affinity for teaching combined with the technical skill earned through a BM in Harp Performance from Montclair University, a MM in Harp Pedagogy from Shenandoah Conservatory, graduate level performance study at Carnegie Mellon University, and a DM in Harp Performance from Florida State University, means that I can provide a breadth of harp education second to none in this area. My previous experience includes positions with the Shenandoah Arts Academy, Morgan County Public Schools, and Morgan County Adult and Community Education.
I have a limited number of rental harps available on a first come, first serve basis, and I can also guide you in renting or purchasing an instrument that fits your budget and needs. Many of my students are the proud owners of harps purchased through The Virginia Harp Center, as well as many other trusted harp resources.
